Befriend, Delight and Commit

Day #10 of our 25 Days of CHRISTmas pics!!
This is a bench that we have in our home that I got at a church auction several years ago.
This little bench just makes me smile!!!

I have had several of you ask how I'm doing with the knee and all. So today I thought I'd give you an update on how things are going.

The knee is coming along, slowly, but it is getting there. It definintely has some range of motion issues but we are working on this. When we started out I was at 30 degrees ~~~ that is bad, but yesterday I was at 52 degrees. So that is definent improvement. But my doctor wanted me to be at 90 degrees two weeks out of surgery and I am four weeks out. So this for me, is a very slow process, but I'm gonna get there. I will.

In fact on that note, I'd like to introduce you to my title. It comes from Psalm 37:3-5.

"Trust in the LORD, and do good;
dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness.
4 Delight yourself in the LORD,
and HE will give you the desires of your heart.
5 Commit your way to the LORD;
trust in Him, and He will act."

I spoke a few days ago about how God is speaking to me through verse 3. Well God is really using these three verses in my life right now. The first, of course, is befriending faithfulness.

Dick and I was on our way to PT yesterday and talking about needing to get some more sessions scheduled before they fill up. (My PTist had said I needed to do this.) So I told my hubs that it would be so much easier if I could just drive myself. (Well of course does lead balloon give you any idea of how that went over =) To which he said will MAYBE in two weeks, but we just don't know (and let me remind you that I needed to make these appointments yesterday to even get a time). So I cozied right on up next to faith (my friend) and made an announcement. I WILL BE DRIVING IN TWO WEEKS AND I'M MAKING THOSE APPOINTMENTS IN THE MORNING!! (Dick had just got through saying how he thought morning appts would be better because the swelling would be down more.) To which he said, "I said MAYBE!!" To which I replied, "I'm going on faith here, and faith says I"m driving in two weeks." And guess what? He said okay. So I made my appointments after the 18th (which were already scheduled) for the A.M. and I am so excited. So how is that for snuggling right on up next to faith and making it my friend? I just love that verse.

So then on to verse 4, delight. Right here is the Word God tells us to delight in Him. Do you not just love that? Listen if we can delight in anything, it's in Him. He loves us. Don't doubt that. No matter what we go through here, God loves us. And it says right here in His Word that when we delight in Him then he gives us the desires of our hearts. Now that is truly AWESOME!! He rewards us for delighting in Him. What an awesome God we serve!!!

Now to the commit part in verse 5. We have to commit our ways to Him, in everything. Yes even in this knee of mine I have to commit. There have been moments in this journey that I have been a brat and God, as any loving parent does, has had to discipline me and set me straight. But I'm so glad that He does that. I committed my way to Him a long time ago and I committed my knee-way to Him as well. And God says here that when we commit our way to Him and TRUST Him, HE WILL ACT. Listen not only do I need to commit this knee to Him, but I also have to trust that He knows best and then HE WILL ACT. I can get all down and upset that I wasn't at 90 degree at the two week part, or I can trust. I can be really angry over the amount of pain this has been or I can trust. I can get really upset that I've had to slow way down and my CHRISTmas tree isn't even up yet=) or I can trust. I'm choosing to trust.

The knee is doing well. We have a long way to go, but we expected a long way to go. But I am getting there and I WILL get there. I'm looking really forward to 90 day. So what is 90 day you ask? Well that is the day I reach 90 degrees on my own. And on that day I will release some lovely pictures of this journey, but until then . . . we'll just talk about it =)

Have a Blessed day,

  1. Cant wait for you to get to 90 degrees as well! and I know with your fight & your FAITH - you are going to be getting there in God's timing - not the doctor's!!!!

    Loved your insight... the part with Delight in God & He'll give you the desires of your heart... WOW! Good stuff!!!!

    Just wanna hug you friend for all the goodness you share!!!

  2. I love your little church bench!!

    You're making progress on your knee. Good for you for befriending faith with your appointments.

    My oldest son, Kale's first memory verse was verse 4 - he was only 2-3 years old. One of my favorite verses!

  3. I love these verses!!!!!!! I'm going to write them in my adoption scripture notebook that I keep in my purse! I read it whenever I struggle.

    Thanks for sharing!!
