Remember why . . .

So the CHRISTmas pic today is a little bit different. Not covered in glitz and glamour, not covered in holiday bows and wrapping.

Isaiah 53:2
"He grew up before Him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground.
He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to Him,
nothing in His appearance that we should desire Him."

This is a wood carving of our Lord Christ that Dak received as a gift many years ago and it hangs over the door of his room. Over the weekend Dick and Dak moved his bedroom to the room by ours, because the room he was in off the kitchen is hard to heat and with the economy the way it is we are trying to conserve energy as much as possible, and we're closing that room off for the winter.

Dak was so great about it. He didn't complain one time or whine about having to go back to a smaller room. Nope. He just embraced the idea and really jumped in with both feet and got his room move and arranged. It looks great. And the last thing he added was the wood carving over the door. And his room then felt complete.

So what does this carving have to do with CHRITmas? EVERYTHING!!! Without Him there would be no CHRISTmas. We would have a forever winter and no CHRISTmas (one of my fav lines from The Chronicles of Narnia). I'm so very thankful that God sent His only Son into this world to save me. At this time of year, I remember . . . at this time of year I want to teach my son, to remember . . . my grandson, to remember. . .

So let's remember . . . at this time of year . . . it isn't about the wrappings and trappings, it isn't about the bows and the ribbon . . . it's about God in His perfect timing sending His Son Jesus, the ONLY Way to Him, our gift of salvation.

So yes we buy gifts and decorate our homes and spread the holiday cheer, but let's spread it in the true Spirit of CHRISTmas. Jesus, the Reason for the Season. Yes it's been said many times, but it is true, He is the Reason for the Season.

Love and Blessings,

PS I just checked my mail and we got our first CHRISTmas card ~~ YIPPEE!!! ~~ I heart CHRISTmas cards ~~ our first card is from my Aunt Mildred (I heart her too ~~ she is so GREAT) and this is what it says on the front of the card:

"A CHRISTmas Prayer"

Lord, Thank you for Your birth,

Your life, Your sacrifice, and Your resurrection.

You are the meaning of CHRISTmas!"

I love that ~~ thanks Aunt M ~~
