Do you have the Passion....

of Passion week?

As I was sitting in church yesterday and hearing about all of the events that will be coming up this week, my heart was full. This is one of my favorite weeks at our church, because within it lies one of my favorite services, Good Friday Noon Communion.

Now I absolutely LOVE our Easter Sunday morning services as well, but there is something about the Noon Communion service that our Church has. It is a very somber meeting, but it is so powerful. You are hit with the brevity of Christ suffering on Good Friday. Good because He was willing to go to Calvary for, depraved man....He prayed in the Garden if there be anyway this cup could pass....there wasn't.....not my will Father but Yours be done. Oh the beauty of that moment. And Good Friday service commemorates what Christ did for us. I am looking so forward with GREAT anticipation to this service. And more about that at the end of the week.....

Yesterday was Palm Sunday. The day that Christ rode triumphally into Jerusalem and all the people waved Palm branches and sang "Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the Name of the Lord!! Blessed is the King of Israel!" John 12:13

Our Pastor spoke out of Luke 24 yesterday about the Emmaus road. It was a GREAT message. He talked about the disappointment of Cleopas and his companion (probably his wife) as they walked along the road. They were having doubts and clearly they were not believing. They were remembering the events of that week, no doubt the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem and then the turn of events that happened. The betrayal, the mock trial, the floggings, Jesus' Crucifixion..........the horror that the week ended up being.

It is so interesting in verse 19 how Cleopas says "He was a prophet..." In verse 21 "we had hoped...." They are now so disappointed. Things had not turned out how they had planned.....disappointment is a hard pill to swallow sometimes. And their disappointment gave way to unbelief.

And then in verse 27 ... "And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, He explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning Himself." Can you imagine The Word speaking the Word? (goosebumps!!..)

I love these verses, and this message really prepared my heart for this week. I will be studying the Passion week and will be blogging about my studies this week. My heart is ready for a fresh Word from Abba about the most important week ever for sinful man.......the week Christ died and HALLELUJAH!!!.... rose again!!

So join me on this journey through Passion week.

Love you friends,

  1. So excited to see what God speaks through you during the week... Passion week just touches my heart too...leading up to Easter! Love it! Christ ROSE AGAIN!!!!

Love the new Blog header too!

  2. I was so moved by our service yesterday I was tears most of the time. Then we had a meeting with the women to kick of a 30 day challenge and I was still so moved the poor women ended up listening to another small sermonette.

I too love this week. For me though the challenge is staying focused on the week with all of the turmoil lurking around each corner.

I pray that the Holy Spirit will guide us and speak to our hearts this week.
