Randomly Speaking ....

Okay, so one thing you should know about me is that I am a crazy healthy eater. I mean like c-r-a-z-y healthy. Meaning I try to eat very cleanly; not many preservatives or additives, for the most part nothing out of a box, and I don't eat meat or dairy. Now I have NOTHING against anyone who eats meat or dairy at all, this is totally a decision that I made based on my health. I struggle a lot health wise and eating cleanly helps me to feel much better, so that is what I do.

Now having said all of that, I live with boys, well men really, carnivore men at that. They are definitely meat and dairy devourers eaters. In fact, Dak calls himself a meat-a-tarian. Hahahaha cracks me up every time. But they are also VERY supportive of my vegetarian eating ways, because they love me. They know that this is the very best way for me to eat given the many challenges I have faced health wise, and I will address so much more of this on my health and wellness blog starting up at the first of the year, so be looking for that.

anyway....

Yesterday, while mom and I were out shopping, I stopped at MaMa Jean's (my fav health food store) for some freshly ground Almond butter that I grind myself...(what kind of mental image does that give you? =) and they had a bowl of fresh made White Bean Soup in the cooler, so I grabbed me some of that and out the door I went. Well, I payed of course, well you know....

When I got home last night, I was heating it up when hubby came over and looked into my bowl intently. The conversation that ensued went something like this:

Me: Honey do you want some?
Hubs: Honey, prison food looks better than that!!

Hahaha I laughed so hard. It was so cute. I am so happy that we can laughed over the situations and food we find on our plates. That is a good place to be. Nope we, as a general rule, don't take ourselves to seriously.

So my White Bean Soup looks something like this, only without the butter and cream.
Now I ask you, does that look like prison food to you?!! I didn't think so =)

Well, we have a fun night in store. Dak has been nominated for Mr. Jay (Blue Jay that is), at our school. He was first nominated by his class, then had to write a paper and be interviewed and then the people at Jostens and some of the teachers decide who wins. The ceremony is tonight at half-time of the ball game. GO DAK!!!!!
Speaking of Dak, he is sick, again. I got a call from the school nurse yesterday while I was out with mom that he wasn't feeling well. So he came home, and was sick all evening. I'll spare you the details, but it was stomach related. Yuck.
Well, I got a call yesterday afternoon from my friend C, who also teaches Spanish at our school, and she wanted to let me know that Dak had also been voted the Junior Class attendant for Homecoming this year. He can't win, because only Seniors can win, but how great that he will be the sponsor for his class. Way to go son!!
And then a couple hours later Dak got a call from one of his friends telling him that he was Student-of-the-Month. WOW!!
Cool, so this one ..... yep the very one sticking the end of the very long Santa's hat into his mother's mouth is Mr. Jay candidate, Homecoming attendant and SOTM. Very proud of you, you big lug =) We love you!!!

But before the big festivities this evening, Dak will be headed to the doc. He also has bleeding sinuses, which generally means sinus infection. great. I just got a call from him and he's still feeling lousy, but he has a prom committee meeting 2nd lunch today, so he'll be staying at school a little longer today than he'd hoped. Wow this child is a busy one!!!

  3. What a super young man you have.
You probably know this, but just in case you don't I have to share this piece of information with you...if you don't eat meat you need to take a B-12 supplement. B-12 is only found in meat. Take it from me you don't want to be deficient in vitamin B-12.
