Through the desert...

So I've been reading in the Old Testament and this morning I read a devotional that was really interesting.

We know that it took the Israelites 40 years to go from Egypt to Canaan. In actuality a trip that should have taken 11 days. But something that this writer brought out was so interesting and sad to me. Of the original 1.5 MILLION Israelites that made the pilgrimage from Egypt to the Promised Land, two actual saw the Promised Land. Two. Joshua and Caleb.

The others died in the desert, just as God had told them they would. Because of their grumbling and complaining they did not get to see the Promised Land that God had prepared for them. How sad. I mean how profoundly sad.

As I've been reading through their journeys, it is very evident that their hearts were far from God for the most part. There were some who desired the ways of God; Moses, Aaron, Joshua, Caleb and the most of the priest, but the people did not desire the things of God nor did they pursue them, and yet they wanted the blessings of God.

So let's put a microscope into our lives and see if we see any resemblance. Ouch huh? Yep this is making me want to do a whole lot less grumbling and a whole lot more praising my Jesus!!! I hope it does you too.

Have a Super Blessed day,

Maybe the cold air is just making us both a little blue... & grumply?

Love that God can speak the same message through different ways in His Word!!! Thank you Lord!

    Love you friend!

  2. Oh friend! The Lord has me in exactly the same place. I just read Hebrews 12:1-3 and it so spoke to me. We need to replace the bad (grumbling, etc) with the good (Jesus). Thank you for your post. It is this kind of fellowship that will help us keep running this race. Blessings!

  3. Good thought! It's so easy to look at our kids and see what we would like them to change... then I think... oh my, what does God think when he looks at me??
