Welcome to Day 7 of a Journey of Perspective.
Today and maybe for a couple of days,
let's talk about marriage.
Marriage the way God ordained it to be.
That kind of marriage.
Not marriage the way the world defines it.
This is a topic I am very passionate about.
With the divorce rate in this country at astronimical
levels, my heart breaks for the family.
It seems as though every where I turn
I am hearing of another divorce.
Another family ripped at the seems.
It is heart breaking.
And it shouldn't be this way.
This sign below reminds me of my Mr. Winslow.
He loved me when I was COMPLETELY broken
and unlovable. Why he ever even gave me the
time of day, I do not know.
He was and is a man of God.
I was a broken down, shame-filled, guilt-ridden,
down-trodden mess of a girl,
and he saw something different.
He saw what I could be in Christ.
You see he helped me find my way back to Jesus.
He has watched me struggle and grow all through
our years together. He listens to me and ALWAYS
points me to Jesus.
You see, he loves me like Christ loves the church.
There is NO better way to be loved than this.
It changes you.
Here we are on our wedding day, September 30, 1998.
Yep I married up.
Definitely.
On our day.
Breathtaking.
A give and take.
There are ups and downs.
Ins and outs.
But all the while, we have loved.
We have forgiven.
we lay down next to each other and breathe.
We never go to bed angry with each other.
We set this principle early on.
It's a good one.
Even if we are just hanging out at home and chillin'.
It is special.
We take time out to look at each other.
We take time out to talk.
We touch everyday.
We hug everyday.
We are committed.
Deeply committed.
We are NOT perfect.
(Especially me. I mess up a lot).
We are compassionate and kind.
And when we do disagree,
we meet in the middle, always.
No him all the way over to one side,
and me all the way over to the other, duking it out.
Nope, he hears me out.
I hear him out.
The we meet in the middle.
Loving each other.
Learning from each other.
This scripture was in our wedding.
We eloped.
We had no rehersal.
We showed up and the preacher (whom we'd never met before) preached.
It was amazing.
It was amazing.
It was truly beautiful.
Marriage is sacred.
Marriage is wonderful.
Marriage here is not perfect,
because there are no perfect people,
but one day marriage will be perfect.
At the Marriage Supper of the Lamb.
O GLORY!!!
We are the bride preparing ourselves for the bridegroom.
We take our marriage very seriously.
We protect it.
We desire to make it better.
We love.
Deep.
And I am his girl for all our days.
I am his
and
he is mine.
Thank you Jesus!!
Thank you for sharing this journey with me.
Tomorrow we will talk more about marriage,
and love and Jesus and perspective.
Have a Blessed and Beautiful Day ~~
Ahhh - look at you two! :)
ReplyDeleteSo inspiring.
I see marriages fail all the time now & its just so sad :( People need to see that marriage can still work, with 2 people that are WILLING to WORK :)
