Field Guide Pictures and I NEED YOUR HELP!!!

 Well Happy Tuesday and Valentine's Day!!!

Our Valentine's Day will be pretty low key around here.

I have a UTI (yuck) and had to go to Urgent Care yesterday in the snow and bad roads,

but I was so sick.

So I got some medicine, but today still have no energy.

So we are gonna make it a low key kinda day.

Well, except for Leggs!!

She is ALL about Valentine's Day and has a hot date planned with her sweetie J =)

He has made reservations somewhere, but won't tell her where,

and has planned their date.

Isn't young love fun?!!

She told me last night she was getting up at like 9:30 this morning,

and I said what time are you going out,

and she said their reservations are for 8:00 PM!!!

I love young love!!!!!   =)

Now that is cute!!!!!

So before I start with some pictures of somethings I've been up to in class,

I wanted to ask y'all a question.

I have been thinking about something for awhile and thought I'd get your thoughts.

I am thinking about starting a scrapbook blog.

I think it would help me to really keep things separate.

Okay, on to class.....

I am LOVING this class!!

I am learning SO much.

Well this week is all about mists and washes.

So I thought I'd share some fun things I've been working on.

I sent Dak a fun little care package for Valentine's Day.

I love sending care packages.

Here is a bookmark I made for him.

He loves to read and being in college gives him lots of reasons for that right?  =)

Bookmarks are so much fun to make.

I used a stencil for the wing at the top.

I sprayed the wing stencil with my white spray mist

and pulled the stencil and viola!!

Love it!!!

And here is the cutest little helper in the world!!

He LOVES to scrapbook!!!

 Thought I'd show you the tags I posted pics of the other day

all tucked away in my art journal.

I made little pockets and did a little practice with heat embossing.

 This one is one of my favorites!!

It says "follow your heart"

and the flower came from Leggs.

And the lamppost is my FAVORITE stamp,

because it reminds me of Narnia.

I am making our Valentine's this year.

This one I sent to Dak.....

I've tried to remember that this year.

Fun Projects .....

WOW things are finally calming down in the Dak department. At least kind of. He calls today to find out what day he starts work. He is so excited!!! He hopes it is the sooner date. The boy is ready to make some money =)

Well, I wanted to show you a few things I have been working on in "Sunrise Designs". There are so many things I've been doing, but I wanted to share a couple of fun sewing projects I worked on yesterday to add to some of my up coming Scrapbook projects and then wanted to share some of Dak's Senior Memory Scrapbook Album with y'all.

First of all, I found a youtube tutorial for these CUTE, CUTE birds. First I made a couple of folksy flowers and then tackled the birdies. I used for the flowers a snowflake cookie cutter as my template and made it work. I think they turned out really cute.
















This is the snowflake cookie cutter I used.....















For the birds I went back to the youtube video and since I didn't have a template like she did, I decided to freehand it. I really like how they turned out and Dak LOVED them!! He wanted to know if I could use one on one of his pages. How sweet is that?!!

Now here is the really great part. The outside of the birdies are material of course, but in between the cloth are three layers of paper towels. Yep, just regular paper towels that you have in your kitchen. And you just rough up the edges with a little sand paper and it gives them such a vintage look. LOVE. I used a little bling for the eyes and added a little material and paper towel wings and there you have it. Easy-peasy and oh so cute!! (I'll add the video to the end of this post, so you can try it yourself =)















I am taking a Scrapbook class "May with May" from Big Picture Classes, the entire month of May. Everyday I get a new e-mail with a challenge or tip or layout, etc. It is really cool and I'm learning SO much!!

Here is one of the first layout challenges that I did. It was a challenge to use paint on your pages. So that is what I did. I painted green paper brown. It was so much fun, so then I tore the corner and used a distressing ink and made it look vintage and used a ribbon for my frame. I love how this page turned out.

And what a great picture of Dak and Alyssa!!!















Here is another layout of Dak and I that I just loved as well. Again I used ribbon as my frame and used a Prima flower that I distressed and then added a bling brad. So cute!!!















This was a challenge page I did on National Scrapbook Day (a week ago). I did a free all day class that had 12 challenges. It was so fun. This was a 10 10 10 page. 10 elements, 10 techniques, 10 words. Okay so it was more than 10 words (go figure =) but I love the quote.....

I LOVE this banner I made out of just some fun elements I had laying around.....

I wanted to show you this page for the edge. I am now sewing on my scrapbook pages.

Who knew? How cute!! Today I think I'll try some zigzag stitiches on my pages.

So fun!!

I also added some shiny Stickles to my page. It brightened up everything and gave it a little more dimension.

This is still a work in progess. I'm wanting to get a bottle of royal blue Stickles to add to my distressed letters. They are not quite the right color blue.....

Here is a little chipboard tage I covered and stamped on, and then added a Thickers "D" for Dak on the side of the journaling..... OOPS Blogger just lost this picture, but please look up at the bottom of this page, so cute.....

I'm showing you this undone page because of the stiching on the top and bottom of my journaling. This was handstitched with embroidery thread. I love how it turned out. It isn't perfect, but it adds dimension and interest to the page. I haven't finished this page.....

Random Friday ~~ Complete with Pictures =)

Well hello there friends~~

No I have not dropped off the face of the bloggy world =)

We've been SO busy around here that I've hardly had time to write my own blog or to visit yours.

And this weekend may not be any better, as mushrooms may be up and you know how we LOVE to mushroom hunt.

Anyway......

Let's get to some randomness, shall we?

I have been involved in another swap over at Homespun Heart.

I did the Joy Swap around CHRISTmas time, and enjoyed it so much,

that when it came time for this swap, I was all in.

This time it was a Nest Swap, and my Swap Buddy this time was Crystal from Washington.

This is really all I can show you today because she is receiving her goodies today,

and I don't want to spoil it in case she stops by =)

But I wanted to show you just the cover of this cute mini.

This one I made out of file folders again and it turned out SO cute.

I used a paper pack from K & CO and LOVED it.

Got the paper 1/2 price at Hobby Lobby, love that too =)

This is after you open the "Bless Our Nest" flap.....

On Wednesday, one of my favorite teenagers (besides Dak, of course =) had her 18th birthday.

So I decided with her gift I would make her a mini.

This is the girl that I took to get Senior Pics, which by-the-way are absolutely beautiful~~

Alyssa is such a special girl. She has a very special place in my heart.

Dak was the only child I was able to have, and I so wanted more.

But God knows best and I have peace about it, but I still love me some girls =)

As you know, I have a son, 2 stepsons and a grandson, so when I get a little

girl time, it is special, and Alyssa provides that for me.

I get to spoil her and she doesn't mind at all =)

Well, I have been looking up on youtube some more techniques and had found one on

paperbag minis. I was intrigued and decided I'd give it a try.

So the base of this mini is entirely out of paperbags.

(Oh and it is also made out of a paper pack; not K & Co, but another I got with a 40% off coupon at Hobby Lobby. I do love me some HL sales =)

With the paper bag minis, each side has slots that you can put tags or more pictures in or just whatever you want.

Well I decided to make more places for pictures, so I made picture mats out of file folders and covered them with the signature paper I got for her mini.

I LOVE this style of mini!!!

Side note: I call her baby girl ~~ she loves it that I do ~~ I love her ~~

what a special girl she is .....

Her and Dak, of course.....

And I loved the element on this flap. When you do a mini like this you end up with flaps on each page ~~ so fun!! So you cover those with paper as well and then can add elements like this cute clock. This girl has S-T-Y-L-E like no other girl I know!!

Her and Dak will be going to the same college next fall.

They are hoping to get in dorms close to each other.

I hope they do too.

They are such good friends and they've been through a lot together in high school to test that friendship.

They are so sweet together!!!

This is some ribbon through hole punches.

Such an easy and quick way to add some beautiful pop to a page, especially a pull-out page.

Sir Cuteness and I made Double Chocolate Chip Muffins

and here he is enjoying the fruit of his mixing labor =)

Yes that is garlic salt in my hand and no that did not make it into the muffins =)

My neighbor asked me one day last week, if I'd like a tree clipping from one of her willows.

I told her sure.

So she brought it over when I was leaving one day, so this weekend I decided to find that tree so we could get it planted.

Well I looked and couldn't see it.

Well, while I was riding my bike up and down our street,

I looked at the side of our house and still didnt' see it........

until..........

I looked at my neighbor's privacy fence and TIED to it was my CLIPPING.

Here it is. Is that amazing or what?

How did I NOT see this tree?

My neighbor is a Master Gardner and can grow dirt, literally.

She is a compost woman.

She threw some clippings in her compost last spring when she clipped hers back,

and she had trees that sprung from those clippings. TREES PEOPLE.

This is growth from JUST LAST SPRING.

Amazing!!!

She assures me it will only get 2 ft taller and then start braching out around.

And I can clip the twirly brances and make arrangements with them.

How fun is that?

Oh and BIG happenings around here in the Sir Cuteness department.

Papa has been building him a Jungle Gym. I mean from scratch.

My husband is a master at welding. He is a production manager at a welding shop and is just a genius at it.

He has made us a leg press machine and a shoulder machine and dumbbells and various and sundry other things,

and he made his own wedding ring.

I'm telling you the man is a metal genius.

It truly is astounding what he is able to do with metal.

Well, instead of spending about $1200.00 on a jungle gym, he decided to build one.

The top is all steel and the swing set that comes out of the side will also be made out of metal.

It will have pegs on the climbing wall, a swing set and monkey and chin up bar (for my man =) when it is all complete. YAY!!!

But here's what he has so far.....

There is still a lot of work to be done, but it is coming along nicely.

And Sir Cuteness is LOVING IT!!!!!

He calls it his treehouse.

So cute!!!!!!!!!!!

Slides are expensive.....just sayin'.....

yes I know VERY random, even for Random Friday =)

Dak got Alyssa some kickin' earrings for her birthday,

and so I decorated her bag for him.....

LOVED how this turned out!!!

And I added a prima flower at the bottom.....

SO CUTE!!!!!
