The Truth of the Matter...

Psalm 73:1 "No doubt about it! God is good..." That is the Truth of the matter. No matter what we go through on this earth, God is good!!!

Last night I went to church....Oh Hallelujah!!!!! YAY The first Wednesday night back since surgery. I literally started shaking as I sat in the Presence of the Lord before the service even began. It was a moment I will not forget. He was right there with me and showing Himself beautiful to me. Priceless.

I wanted to share with you my notes:

They are of course backwards, because blogger doesn't like me, but that's okay....I'll get over it =) anyway.... How great it is to be back to my note-writing self. Do ya'll do that? Take notes in church?

And how cute is this journal? This is the one I got to take prayer notes in as I'm finishing up "Whispers of Hope" and want to continue that format even as I work through "90 Days with David: A Heart Like His".

I want to share just a bit from the pastor's message last night. On Wednesday nights we have a very different format from any other service. It is prayer meeting so we begin by breaking up into groups of three or four and praying for individual needs, I love this part. I didn't really used to, I would feel awkward or uncomfortable, but God has so done a work in my heart concerning this area of my life. There is so much power in prayer!!!!! I should note that we go to a large church, so when we split into groups of three or four, generally these are people I don't know. So I think that added to my anxiety over it at first. But I was so grateful for the sweet ladies that I prayed with last night. It was beautiful.

Then we pray for a prayer list that has to do with items in the church and then we prayed for our Easter service and names of people that need salvation (they have cards that people have written lost loved ones names on) love that..... And then we prayed for our prayer cards. They are in the back of the pews and you can fill one out in any service and put it in the bucket and those cards are prayed for, for a month, both on Wednesday evenings and the Pastor's prayer for them on their retreat. Also a beautiful thing.

And then our pastor, Pastor John Lindell teaches out of the Psalms. The Psalm he taught out of last night was Psalm 73 and he taught out of The Message Bible. It was so good.

He started with this. Does life just seem unfair? You see things that happen and think, hey that's not right -- that's not fair? And then he said something I hadn't really considered just point blank, he said: "God is not fair. And you wouldn't want Him to be." Ummm well no, because if He was fair then we'd get what we deserve. Oh Father how I love you that you didn't give me what I deserve!!! You sent Jesus so we wouldn't get what we deserve. Jesus paid the price for our sin on the cross ~~ Oh the mercy and grace ~~

I just want to share with you the last part of this Psalm out of The Message. After the Psalmist writes about how the wicked seemingly prosper (basically he's saying it's just unfair -- paraphrased =) he writes this:

"You're all I want in heaven! You're all I want on earth! When my skin sags and my bones get brittle, God is rock-firm and faithful. Look! Those who left you are falling apart! Deserters, they'll never be heard from again. But I'm in the very presence of God - oh, how refreshing it is! I've made Lord GOD my home. God, I'm telling the world what you do!"

Oh how I love these verses!!! This is a very difficult season that our family is in right now, but we are trusting God through it all. He is all we want in heaven and all we want on earth. We trust You God. Teach us and show us Your mercy and grace. Oh the love of the Savior!!

Have a Blessed day,

  1. Once again, Dawn, a great post. I love the excitement in your voice for being able to be in the Lord's house on a Wednesday night. Oh, that EVERY ONE would be so thrilled. Personally, it seems people lack commitment to the things of God in this day and time. (sorry - soap box)

I trust that God sees your heart and He will meet your needs!!!

  2. I am such a note taker at church too!!! I have notes from every sermon for YEARS ago... love looking back on them! I even have a different note book for the YOUTH messages to keep them all straight.

How awesome is it to have a prayer time together... I LOVE the idea of praying for people who have not accepted Christ - people that have no idea they are being prayed over... WOW!

I can hear your Spirit just soaring through your words here... I'm sure you were glowing last night during church & being back among Believers in that atmosphere!

    Keep Soaring Friend!!!

  3. great post as usual!!
glad you got to go back to church!! it so awesome to be in the presence of the Lord!!
always love hear/reading the words you have to say!!!
    have a wonderful blessed day!

  4. I am on on again off again note taker. Those notes are usually all around the bulletin and I am afriad they get thrown away as trash. I need to get a little book.

Thanks for the great post and the reminder to start taking notes again.

  5. Dawn - I always love the way I feel the excitement in you just jump off the page! I am feeling it with ya!

Praise Him for His presence dwelling in His. THere is NOTHING like feeling the presence of God.

    Still praying for you sister,

  6. So glad you were able to go to church last night. Sounds like you soaked it up and thanks for sharing it with us. I love the new blog look.

  7. Hi Dawn, I found you over at Beth's An Instrument 4 His Glory and I'm so glad that I did. You have the sweetest spirit. I truly enjoyed this post. I pray that you are doing well since surgery and I'm so glad you were able to return to church.

I look forward to visiting with you more often.

God bless you and your family.

  8. What an encouraging post! I totally take notes in church. We have a place in our bulletin to take them. I have started to transfer some of my notes into my journal because usually I need to translate all of my scribbles. :) Your prayer meeting format sounds beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
