Those who hope upon the Lord...

So it is April 1 ~~ no fooling =) and that means it is SMT (Scripture Memorization Team) time. I wish I could adequately describe how this has so built up my walk with the Lord. It has changed how I pray and how I think. When those bad or unedifying or just plain crummy thoughts come in there I start quoting the Scripture my Lord has illuminated to my heart and those thoughts are gone and I am basking in the Words of my Saviour and my God. It is a beautiful thing.

Well, I actually have two Scriptures for this time, because....well just because. The first one will make me cry for sure so never mind those tears you see on the screen. It is out of tremendous love I assure you. God reveals Himself to me in so many ways, SMT is just one way that He does, but boy is it powerful!!!

The other night I was working on the Faithbook for my Scriptures. It is really good for me. I love immersing myself in beautiful papers, and surrounding the Word with them just does something to this heart of mine. Well, as I worked on some pages and was thinking about my sweet boy, (yes Dak is 16 years old - but he'll ALWAYS be my sweet BOY to me =) I flipped to the back of my Faithbook and saw that I had written out on two cards Scriptures. One I remember writing out of Psalm 91 ~~ I love Psalm 91 ~~ but the one on top I do not remember ever writing, but yes it is in my handwriting. As I read it my heart was so full, because I knew that God had wrote this Scripture for me and this was at least one of the Scriptures I'd be memorizing.

Lamentations 2:19 (NIV) "...Pour our your heart like water in the Presence of the Lord. Lift up your hands to Him for the lives of your children..."

I love this verse. (Note: it is part of a longer verse, this is the section that was written on the card, but the whole verse is great as well....so now that I've intrigued you, go on, go open that Bible of yours and give it a read....yep GREAT verse!!)

If you have children, this is one you need to remember. We our to pour out our hearts like water to Him and lift up our hands to Him for the lives of our children. When mama's and daddy's pray for their babes, God listens and honors those prayers...I firmly believe it. If your babe is having a hard time, pray. If your babe is having happy times, pray. Whatever the season, pray. Pour it out like water from a pitcher, a steady stream before the Lord. He'll honor those sincere prayers child, He will.

Now to the other verse, that I woke up quoting this morning, every since Em sent me that beautiful card, I have not been able to get Isaiah 40:31 off my mind and this morning I woke up quoting it, at least in part. So that is another verse I will be learning for this session. And since I am waiting on God, it is the perfect verse for this season. Just the one I need.

Isaiah 40:31 (NIV) "but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."

So let me quote my Scripture(s) from the middle of March.

II Corinthians 2:14-15 (NIV) "But thanks be to God who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ, and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of Him. For we are to God the aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing."

And then I also memorized II Corinthians 4:16-18 (NIV), prompted by Stellan's mama Jennifer.

"Therefore, we do not lose heart, though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen but on what is unseen, for what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."

I hope you all have a beautiful, hope-filled day in Christ,

  1. Hi friend,
I hope you are well! Thank you for sharing such meaningful scriptures for me today. I love the scripture from Lamentations. This to me is what I should be doing daily no matter the situation. Praying and praising in both the ups and the downs. It's always good to the that much needed reminder. Have a great day.
