Summer Bible Study ~~ LIVE AND ON THE AIR ~~ JOIN US!!!

Well, it is finally ~~ Summer Bible Study!!

I don't know about you, but my summer could sure use a good dose of the Word.

How this will work as far as our meeting goes through this blog.

Please log into The LPM site in another tab or window. Right here is the link, and have that at the ready, so you can refer to the questions Beth Moore asks as we go through them.

To view comments you will have to refresh your page. I know this can be a little confusing, but it worked for McMama, and she was having hundreds of comments in minutes, so I thought it might work for us to. I will be looking at a little better way to do the discussion part of it, but for tonight, you will need to refresh your page to bring up new comments. You can do that by right clicking and hitting refresh or by typing in the address again at the top.

Leave comments on this post only, so we can all view them and discuss.

After our discussion this evening, I will be recapping on the LPM blog and let them know how many we had in our virtual home =) where the candles are glowing, the food is delish and the company.........divine!!

Thanks so much for joining me on this journey.

I'm believing God for BIG things this summer. I find my self in a very difficult season during this Bible study series, so I KNOW that God has some BIG things that He wants to reveal to me through it and through you ~~ can't wait ~~ well, just a little longer on the wait.....

I'll "see" you in five ~~ love you,

  7. I know there are at least 2 more ladies who will be joining us, so we'll give them a couple more minutes. They are two friends of mine that live in my general vinicity and saw both of them today. So I'm hoping they'll jump on and say hello, but one is the mama of an itty bitty beautiful girl, so she may be busy.

  8. I got my book today, but only had time to do a glance over it. I had one of those days.Sick cat, vet appt, pet store, groceries. I hope not reading for tonight isn't a problem.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Not a problem at all. Our study work actually begins tomorrow. Tonight is by way of introduction only. So you are just fine my dear.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Oh 2cats, I think we'll ALL have those days through this study... that's OK... but today is the first day... so you cant be TOO far behind - right? that's a good thing! (Hope your cat is feeling better)

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  13. Hey this is Carrie. I had a little trouble commenting at first. Hope this works now. I might be a little slow commenting. I'm typing with one hand while feeding a baby with another.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Well, let's go ahead and get started. I don't want to wait too long. I wanted to open in prayer.

    Father,
You know our hearts and our desire to know You better. I pray that through this study, You will open up opportunities for us that right now are not even on our horizons. I pray that the eyes of our hearts will be enlightened to see Your Truth in all areas of our lives.

Thank You for the joining together of our hearts as we study Your Word. In the Mighty Name that is above all Names, Jesus Christ, Amen

    ReplyDelete
  15. Hi Carrie and Georgia ~~ I see you both ~~ so glad you are on here. Carrie hug that baby for me =) as we get started ~~

    ReplyDelete
  16. Why don't we all start by giving a shout out of where we all live~~ I'll start ~~ Clever, MO

    ReplyDelete
  17. I'm in Greenville, Indiana... just a blink of a town... right across the bridge from Louisville, Kentucky

    ReplyDelete
  18. I'm from Clever, Mo. Now I live in the country not too far from Clever/Hurley/Nixa, Mo.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Come check out the farm at Highlandville Mo

    ReplyDelete
  20. And Georgia lives in Highlandville, MO.

See we have quite a beautiful mix of areas that God is joining together through this study. I love it!!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Hey there you are Georgia ~~ I didn't see you.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Love that! people from all over, joining together for ONE GOD! Awesome!

    ReplyDelete
  23. So the first question that Beth asks is this one, which I LOVED btw,

Characterize this season of your life in one word.

    My answer: hard.

    ReplyDelete
  24. This is going to be just a plain old love fest. isn't it?

    ReplyDelete
  25. I thought about the one word all day - & the season I'm in right now is: REGRET... not a pretty word

    ReplyDelete
  26. One Word: Busy

    Carrie

    ReplyDelete
  27. Oh RJ, I hear ya sister. That is a hard season to travel through.

Trudy: Renewal ~~ I've found that to be a beautiful season.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Carrie: busy ~~ yep I understand that one for sure. And you are so busy with a new beautiful girl.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Regret is a hard time I am sure. And hard? Oh my!
My renewal is about 3 weeks old. I am so hopeful now, whereas before I was discouraged.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Love all the words - show how we are all in different places. Carrie - I'm hearing you have a new baby... high fives to you for taking time to do the study on top of that... that's dedication & glad you are taking time for you & your relationship with God! :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. One reason I really liked this question is because I believe it keeps us real and accountable to the seasons we are in. I loved it. Hard came to mind for me instantly, right now life's just hard. See keeping it real!!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Trudy - renewal is so awesome... such a wonderful place to come to time & time again!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Dawn, Hard is a word that makes me think of something that makes you STRONGER though! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  34. I agree RJ. God keeps giving us chances to begin again when we mess stuff up. He is so AWESOME!!!

    ReplyDelete
  35. That is so true RJ and I can literally feel myself getting stronger in the Spirit with each passing day. I'm so thankful that I haven't just rolled over and put the covers over my head every day. Yep I am getting stronger in Him!!!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Question #2:

Share one specific goal you have this summer for being in Summer Bible Study.

Me: To reach deep into my heart and understand deeper the Loss, Love and Legacy of Ruth -- & Dawn.

    What about you?

    ReplyDelete
  37. I think it's great that God has brought us all together in our very different stages of life. I'm looking forward to hearing all of the different perspectives on Ruth.

RJ-My baby girl is 2 months old and this is our first. She keeps us busy, but I'm trying to remember to keep making time for studying. Even if that means I'm reading at midnight in my walk-in closet because the baby is already asleep and so is my husband. True story:-)

    ReplyDelete
  38. A few weeks ago I had an epiphany and it scared both my husband and myself. I have gone into the Word more often now, and things between us have changed so dramatically that I know He has his hands in our lives. Even if my husband does not believe.

    ReplyDelete
  39. From this study of Ruth I want to see how to become more of a Ruth-like woman. I want to grow in the Word and have more understanding.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Carrie... I have a feeling that walk in closet is going to be your home away from home... take some pillows, a flashlight & a blanket in there for emergency purposes! :)

2cats - thats incredible! We'll pray for your husband! If you are an example, that may be what he needs to see God more then ever in his life!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Carrie ~~ I love you so much!!! You are such a good wife, mommy and servant of the Most High King. You rock right on with your 12:00 midnight study sessions =)

Trudy ~~ I will be praying for you. And praying for your husband.

    ReplyDelete
  42. My Goal: It may sound corny, but I just really want to hear God - get new insight on a story that I've heard many times, through many ways... love to find a new way of seeing scripture.

    ReplyDelete
  43. W walk in closet seems like a cozy place to read.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I've joined Bible Study to make sure I continue to study God's word during this busy season. And I'm excited to study more about Ruth. I know her story, but I've never really dove deep into it.

    Carrie

    ReplyDelete
  45. We all have very excellent reasons for being here.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Trudy: to be more of a Ruth-like woman ~~ love that!!! Me too sister.

Georgia: I too, want to grow in the wisdom of God. WOW!!! Now that's some growth right there, when we grow in His wisdom.

RJ: That is NOT corny AT ALL!!! I understand exactly what you are saying. Sometimes we can read things in the Word and because we've read them so much, we don't see the newness and excitement that we once did. How exciting for you to want to see Ruth again. Love that!!! & me too!!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Carrie ~~ I'm so glad that we are doing our third Summer Bible Study series together. You are such an inspiration to me and I'm so glad that you are taking this very busy season and making sure that God is right in the middle of it!!! He will Bless you for it ~~

    ReplyDelete
  48. RJ, wanting to hear God is never corny.
2cats, I think wanting to be a Ruth like woman is a pretty good goal.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I love it because all the reasons/goals... are pretty much that we just want to learn more about God... worthy goals right there!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Question #3:

Judges 21:25 says, "In those days there was no king in Israel. Everyone did what was right in their own eyes."

How is it dangerous to do what is right in our own eyes?

Me: Because we are being led by self and not by God, and self will ALWAYS desire selfish things above everything else and NOT the things of God.

    What do you think?

    ReplyDelete
  51. I read this earlier & just that last sentence "Everyone did what was right in their own eyes" gave me chills... its our selfish nature - its the story of Eve in the garden - its the center of sin...

    ReplyDelete
  52. If we do right by our own eyes we are putting trust in ourselves and the world, and not in the One we should be trusting. We will push OUR will and may not be doing His will.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Center of sin ~~ wow that is very well put!!! I'll be right that down as a definition of selfishness. You hit it right on its ugly head, RJ.

    ReplyDelete
  54. OUCH ~~ "push OUR will and may be be doing HIS will" WOW that is powerful stuff right there!!

how many times have I tried to push my will, only to find that I was out of His. hmmmm......that is a good word right there Trudy!!

    ReplyDelete
  55. It's dangerous because we are not God. Period. God knows us better than we know ourselves. He knows exactly what we need. He sees our past and our future. We don't have those abilities so we are not able to make an informed decision on what is right. Now, I can say all that, but the truth is as humans we really think we know better than God sometimes. At least I do. (Maybe you guys don't ever do that:-)) But, it turns out He's always right and I'm not.

    Carrie

    ReplyDelete
  56. 2cats - yep, putting trust in ourselves & the world... we think we are so in charge but I know for me, when I make decisions on my own - did things in my OWN eyes & not God's, its pretty much been a screw up!

Selfishness... harsh word - but so true...

    ReplyDelete
  57. Carrie - "He knows our future"... oh man... how I know I forget that. I look at the future as "tomorrow" or maybe even the next day... I forget God knows my LIFE... & I get so arrogant to think I know best... wow...how many times does God just shake his head ;)

    ReplyDelete
  58. I have been having a problem. I have been praying about a solution to this problem. When I the solution came to me I was so afraid that it was my solution and not His that I did nothing. I kept on praying. Finally I got a tap on my head that told me that the ideas were from Him and that it was OK to act on them. I am so glad that I waited.

    ReplyDelete
  59. WOW we think we know better than God. Does that just hit anybody else right between the eyes?

I am in a season RIGHT NOW that that is something I have to keep in check. God knows best, even when I don't understand why things are going the way they are and I try to be in charge. He is teaching me to LET IT GO FOR GOODNESS SAKE AND LET HIM BE GOD!!!

    ReplyDelete
  60. (Side question) - so if I right click - there is a button that says Export to Microsoft Excel... will it take it there where I can print this all out... it would be neat to put our "conversation" in a journal.... I didnt even know you could right click to refresh - that made my life easier already! Thanks Dawn for that info!

    ReplyDelete
  61. Mine doesn't say anything about exporting, but I am going to print this all out when we are finished. I like the idea of having it to look back on.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Trudy - I think that's the danger... so many times people really think they ARE listening to God when it really is just ourself. So hard to distinguish God's leading sometimes. I struggle with that. Why that is so hard. Exactly why I want to be closer to Him - so I know His voice more clearly in those moments.

Dawn - "Letting it go"... oh man - so much easier said then done. I admit - I'm someone who doesnt lay things down easy - I hold grudges & that's so bad as a Christian.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Okay so I just did that and it imported it right to Excel. Yep it works!!! YAY!! Thanks for that RJ!! That is going to be a GREAT addition to this study.

We will all learn as we go ~~ YAY!!

    ReplyDelete
  64. Oh boy, that is so true. People think they are listening to God when they are really hearing themselves. That is why it is SO important to KNOW GOD'S VOICE in our lives.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I think it must be a matter of trusting.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Amen, Trudy. Definitely a matter of trusting.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I can see where trust is a big part... but I also think of the people like David Kerish (how do you spell it) - who really feel like they are trusting the voice of god. Satan is persuasive... isnt he? (Stupid devil)... watch, that wont be the last time you hear me say Stupid Devil... if you see SD - you know that's just saving me time! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  68. Since we are kind of on the topic, how do you know when it is God's voice talking and not your own?

My answer: There is a peace that comes with it. Now that doesn't mean it's easy. But, somehow God gives me peace deep in your heart. But, I'm really bad at double and triple checking with Him even when I know it is Him speaking. I really need to work on that.

    ReplyDelete
  69. I taught one time to the youth a sentence that really stuck with me - its said "you know its God when it does nothing to contradict the Bible - or the Word of God"... that makes a lot of sense to me...

    ReplyDelete
  70. That last part of question #3 has to do with Jeremiah 17:7-14 and comparing and contrasting that to Judges 21:25. That is a lovely group of Scriptures, so please read it and do a compare and contrast, and please e-mail me with your answers, I'd LOVE to hear them.

It has been an hour and I know that some of you are on different time zones, so I don't want to keep you up late.

Before we go though, Beth Moore had a wonderful suggestion. She said in the front cover of our workbooks to write a letter to God telling Him what we would like to receive out of this study. I love that!!! Please take the time to do that, and then in our last session together maybe we can share how our letter coincides with what we've learned.

    What do you think?

    ReplyDelete
  71. He gives me peace deep in MY heart, not YOUR heart. Sorry, I'm a proofreader and I didn't proofread that time before commenting.

Yes, Dawn, I know you are laughing at me right now.

    Carrie

    ReplyDelete
  72. Anonymous, that is exactly what I am talking about. That deep, deep inner peace. I had that come to me with this plan, but I was afraid of it. Until God actually tapped me and told me to believe in it and to trust this peace.
Rebecca Jo, People like David Keresh have been led to believe a lie from SD. They have then led others to believe the same lie. It is those people who are trusting. The SD has worked on the egos of people like David Kerash. Just my thoughts.

    ReplyDelete
  73. WOW I love both of those answers on hearing the voice of God. I as well, sense a peace and often times a prompting of the Spirit, a check if you will, that it was from Abba. Often times I look in the Word and have confirmation to what He told me. I love that God speaks to us like that ~~ LOVE IT!!!

    ReplyDelete
  74. Hahaha yep laughing "with" you right now!!! You are such a planner. I bet that drove you crazy.....you proofreader you =)

    ReplyDelete
  75. yep... very true... I agree with your thoughts...

Dawn - I already wrote my letter out to God in my book.. & its funny because when I heard that, I thought, thats a weird thing. but then I started writing & I just kept writing to God - it was pretty cool. Am anxious to go back at the end & re-read it!

    ReplyDelete
  76. Hi! It's Michele. I don't remember my google login offhand, but wanted to just touch base. I just saw your invitation on the blog.

    ReplyDelete
  77. I am so very thankful for the peace God gives. And I'm glad He has left us His word so we can see His heart and know Him more.
